Marchant Twins

Amanda or Manda for short is five minutes younger than her twin sister Sam Marchant. They were 18 when they entered Big Brother. The Marchant twins herald from Stoke on Trent. They were born on 26 June 1988. Like her sister, Manda Marchant likes pink, boys, shopping, and make-up and dislikes chavs. Like Sam, Manda Marchant studies Social Work at Manchester Metropolitan University. The twins' parents are divorced. They have a younger sister called Claire. Although they are the first twins on UK's Big Brother, they are not the first twins on UK reality TV, as they follow in the footsteps of Emma and Eve Ryan, who were on Love Island. Halfway through Big Brother series 8, the twins were treated as one housemate and were often referred to as Samanda. Sam and Amanda were runners-up in Big Brother series 8 with Brian Belo the eventual winner. Soon after Big Brother, Sony BMG signed up the twins Sam and Amanda Marchant and lined them up to record a cover single of Aqua's novelty song Barbie Girl.
